Girls name - Suzannah/Sawsan

Hello,

I wanted to know if any of you know muslim girls with the name: Suzannah?

I read on the internet somewhere that Sawsan which means lily (the flower) is an arabic version of Suzannah and the meaning is the same. But I am still not quite sure.. if anyone could clarify please… my husband likes this name and wants to someday name our daughter Suzannah.

Re: Girls name - Suzannah/Sawsan

**i’ve an AfGhani friend. his daughter’s name is suzanah…

sosan [so san] is a persian word which means a sky blue color flower

its used extensively in urdu poetry with another word nastaran [sosan o nastaran]. nastaran is also a kind of flower which is called sewti ka phool in urdu…Nastaran is also a muslim name.

Re: Girls name - Suzannah/Sawsan

I've read that Sawsan is the equivalent of Susan. Suzannah, I think, is a variation of Susan. For example, Kathy, Kate, Katherine are variants of the same name.

I personally don't like the sound of the Arabic variant, Sawsan. Just doesn't sound graceful to me. Not a fan of Susan or Suzannah either.

BUT....I do know a Muslim desi girl...named Suzannah.
