I think that it may be true to a small extent in that the bond between parent and child goes so very far beyond marriage. There is a biological bond between parent and child. There is nothing that can ever change the fact that the parent is the parent. Husband and wife while its a very close bond - is still break-able. It is not an unbreakable bond is what I'm trying to say. It SHOULD be but its not. Even if a parent "disowns" a child, the child is still their child. Not so with husband/wife. I'm addressing this not as girl/father specifically because I think that this issue is pretty genderless. When a spouse passes on, it can be a heartbreaking thing. But when a parent passes on, its heartbreak PLUS. Its like a part of you has died - I really think that the bioliogical link makes it so. To put it crudely, a parent is NOT replaceable ever. A spouse can be replaced. Kids know this somehow.
