And as for girls complaining about forced engagements/marriages, everyone's situation is different. Not everyone has understanding or lenient parents and there are circumstances that can make you give into their wishes despite of everything. Raising your voice after or going against it is not whining or being foolish, I think it's being strong and realizing you cannot waste your life with someone you just cannot connect with.

THis is exactly my point, why raise your voice later? If u marry someone then stay with them. There's no point in blaming parents later saying "Dekho yeh kia hogaya bla bla bla."Why raise your voice later? If you couldn't say anything at that time then why cry later on? Tab zuban nahin hoti kia? Why would u even want to marry someone who you don't want to, then realise you can't connect with them and **then **leave them? Isn't it better if you think about that before?

I know not everyone has lenient parents but why not try talking to them. Whine, cry do whatever it takes, if you know that there is no way u will click with the person they have chosen for u :)
