Is it safe to visit Gilgit and Hunza areas at the moment? I may be able to visit in May.

It has always been safe to visit Hunza. As for Gilgit other than occasional Shia-Sunni clashes it has always been safe to visit.

Which aspect are you asking in relation to?

It is completely safe buddy. No problems over there. Its very peaceful area. I have been there July 2009 and it was awesome experience.
