Yep, Gilli and Dhoni has been discussed many a times, and with Dhoni himself saying that he respects Gilli, that discussion is over..
Dhoni has chance to take over again during WI series. What's the Australian calendar going forward.......

Yep, another challenge for Dhoni, we thought the English bowlers will have him for b/f. He managed that...
lets see how does he manage WI bounce....... Though WI bowling line up does look like fodder as of now.......

^ very likely he will carry his scoring rate for a while as WI bowlers and pitch won’t be more threatening. But still he has been good player so far :k:

Well, both Gilchrist and Dhoni are great players and this tussle is not going to stop until one goes down badly in batting. Anyhow, let's see how Dhoni fares in WI..

dhoni shud only be in odis, n a specialist keeper in TESTS or better technical batsman who can keep.

to be fair, the stats Dhoni would likely get over 3 matches against Bangladesh would easily put him back in the #1 spot.
but Dhoni has a lot to prove before I say he is "better" than Gilchrist.

ICC rankings are very inexplicable. What has Gilchrist done consitently past this year to regain number one spot? Oh yeah his breathtaking start in secone one dayer against Bangladesh. Totally forgot about that

This is not fair statment Saby. Gilli has been very consistant in ODIs for last few months now. You are confusing his OID performance with his test performance. Runs against Bangladesh helped only a little bit since there was close gap between him,dhoni and ponting. And now he is just barely ahead of Dhoni. Here is his score in last 15 inning

^well I guess you are right. His record is okay-ish but number one spot is still questionable. Three fifties and two centuries. Fair enough! but I guess I was too used to his higher hit ratio.
