My comments: Fast paced events in Islamabad today. Supreme Court has appointed it’s own commission to investigate the Memogate scandal, and PPP leaders are blasting the judgements are warning against extreme measures by Judges or Generals.
Re: Gilani: There will be no military or judicial coup
I'm not sure what the fuss is about. Granted, that it was a stupid and pathetic memo. If Haqqani did it on his own, he was out of line and his firing is justified.
If Zardari authorized it, then, as President. he had every right to do so.
It may hurt him politically, but not legally. Stupid acts are not illegal.
Why is SC involved? What legal issue is at stake?
Re: Gilani: There will be no military or judicial coup
To Gillani:
If it is stupid memo, why Haqani was disgraced and fired? if there is some meat in it and Haqani did it on its own, then he should be prosecuted accordingly, it is not his job to write this kind of letters!!! if he did it on someone's instruction then along with Haqani the other person need to be prosecuted...
Re: Gilani: There will be no military or judicial coup
A close reading of yesterday’s Supreme Court order implicitly warns that article 5 & 6 (trial for treason) could be invoked if the allegations of the memo are proved true.
7. It may be observed that under Article 5 of the Constitution, it is the basic duty of every citizen to be loyal to the State and to be obedient to the Constitution and law, being inviolable obligation wherever he may be and of every other person for the time being within Pakistan.

8. The memorandum, issuance whereof, prima facie, seems to be established, has posed immediately two questions – one with regard to civil/constitutional liability with its consequences as envisaged by Article 6 of the Constitution, and the second, the criminal liability as well.* http://www.supremecourt.gov.pk/web/user_files/File/Const.P.77to85of2011-ShortOrder-1.pdf
