Gilani sacks two Fed ministers...

Pakistan PM has sacked two Fed ministers…JUI (F) has left the coalition government and Altaf Hussain of MQM has ordered his party to prepare for the possible general elections…

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani on Tuesday sacked
Ministers for Religious Affairs Hamid Saeed Kazmi and Minister for Science and
Technology Azam Swati from their offices, a statement from the PM House
said.

Though the PM House statement did not mention any reasons it is believed that
the Minister of Religious Affairs was fired as serious allegations of corruption
in the Hajj this year were levelled against him.

The former Minister for Science and Technology Azam Swati and the Minister of
Religious Affairs had entered a verbal bout, blaming each other of corruption
during the Hajj operations.

The sacked religious affairs minister said he was innocent of any
wrongdoing.

“There is no proof of corruption against me… My hands are clean,” Kazmi told
a televised public gathering in the eastern city of Lahore.

Prime Minister Gilani has given the additional charge of Religious Affairs to
Syed Khurshid Shah, Minister of Labour and Manpower.

While Minister of Information Technology Sardar Aseff Ahmed Ali has been
given the additional charge of Ministry of Science and Technology. Also the
Prime Minister has appointed Makhdoom Shahbuddin as Minister for Defence
Production, who will continue to hold his portfolio of the Health Ministry.

Secretary Ministry of Religious Affairs Agha Sarwar Raza Qazalbash has been
directed to report to the Establishment Division, while Secretary Overseas
Pakistanis Division Saeed Khan has been appointed Secretary Ministry of
Religious Affairs. – Agencies

Re: Gilani sacks two Fed ministers...

and in response Maulana Fazalur-Rehman has decided not to sit on Govt benches. Their remaining 2 ministers have resigned.

Although its a sacking of ministers is a step in right direction but I am just wondering from where PPP govt is getting the backing to take on MQM and JUI on two consecutive days and that too before vote on Tax bill. Its either PML(N) or PML(Q)

Re: Gilani sacks two Fed ministers…

Like Gilani is wali ullah and his boss Zardari is an angel. :woho:

Re: Gilani sacks two Fed ministers…

Enough is enough…I think the current weaker government should go and pave the way for a less weaker & corrupt government…hopefully… :jhanda:

Re: Gilani sacks two Fed ministers...

You mean military government. He took the right decision. Whether PPP government remains in power or not it does not matter, that is the correct action what gilani has taken. He should also kick out mqm.

Why this has created so much pain in you, you know where?

choran no pe gae dakait:D:

Re: Gilani sacks two Fed ministers...

Interestingly, both are sacked on disciplinary grounds!!! which is hilarious...

anyway... is election in making as JUI have i think around 9/10 seats in NA and 11/12 in senate... i think ppp has decided to become syaasi shaheed as they have already complete three years ( in feb-11 it would 3 years) and then there is only a year left and the govt. still do not have any strategy to provide relief to the common man... the fifth year is would be the election year anyway and politics of all parties shall revolve around elections...

2ndly and most importantly approval of Money/Tax Bill is almost next to impossible ( despite the lobbying of US ambassador) even Q-league won't be able to support it there... so PPP is going to loose face in front of IMF who have conditioned the loan installment with the RGST...so the best thing is, get out of the govt... let the election take place and let other party form their govt ... the headache shall be transferred to them...and they (PPP Jiyalas) can do all the good talking PML-N and others are doing now a days...

Re: Gilani sacks two Fed ministers...

Pakistan is fit to rule by some retard general who has least concerned with local population, allowing curruption rampage not challangeable in courts including SC, curb freedom of thoughts and expression, impose any condition of IMF like in past by importing PMs from land of uncle sam who were not even citizens of Pakistan, curb media to the core of their arses, create tanaga parties like mma, or q leagues and terrorists like taliban and mqm, and you guys sing a love songs for the dictator and his cronies who only know how to clean the behind of his colonial master. Keep up your rant against democracy, till this country further go down in chaos and breaks into more parts like in 1971.

If Gilani would have not taken any action, you would have been first person cry of PPP corruption. nonsense

Re: Gilani sacks two Fed ministers...

Action taken for wrong reasons !!!

Swati was not involved in the corruption, why was he sacked? had the action taken place for the right reasons and from the very beginning it would have certainly appreciated but now it is little too late and again i would say that is because of wrong reasons...

Stop ranting on army rule... democracies have not delivered as well... and so called LEADERS in loverwith democracy are equally to blamed for the military rule...

Re: Gilani sacks two Fed ministers...

I think that precisely was what Gilani thinking. This emotional act by him can cost PPP the government. He could have followed a more sane approach. But instead he showed how reckless he can be.

To lose government due to bickering between a few individuals seems quite stupid.

Re: Gilani sacks two Fed ministers…

^^^ From what I have read the FIA has discovered huge amount of corruption in Haj ministry (I never knew there was one), and it was seeking PMs permission to arrest Hajj minister. So, lets see if FIA goes after this corrupt muluna… and SC is also looking into Hajj scam.

Btw, personally I hope PPP govt doesn’t fall b/c if it does they b!tch moan about how their govt wasn’t allowed to completer its tenure. That is why I hope govt completes its term, and PPP faces the voters and defends its records in next elections.

KARACHI: The second largest partner in Pakistan’s weak coalition held crisis talks Wednesday after a prominent religious party walked out of the government, triggering fears of a domino effect.

The Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM), which has its powerbase among the Urdu-speaking majority in financial capital Karachi gathered party leaders at around 5:00 pm, a leading lawmaker said.

“The meeting of the MQM coordination committee has begun,” MP Haider Rizvi told AFP. The session was chaired by MQM leader and founder Altaf Hussain, on a conference call from self-imposed exile in London.

“We will discuss the current political situation and the ruling Pakistan People Party’s (PPP) behaviour towards its allies,” Rizvi said.

Decisions will be taken “in the best interest of the country,” he said, declining to elaborate.

Farooq Sattar, head of MQM’s parliamentary faction, earlier told AFP that an emergency meeting would review the departure of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Fazl (JUIF) from the government and forge a future strategy.

JUI-F walked out on Tuesday after PPP Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani sacked one of its three cabinet ministers.

The government needs a simple majority of 172 members in the 342-seat national assembly, which has not been affected by JUIF’s departure with only eight seats in the lower house of parliament.

But MQM support is crucial to the PPP coalition. Party relations have already soured over a surge in political violence in Karachi, which saw more than 155 people killed.

PPP has 128 lawmakers in the lower assembly and commands a majority of 184, based on coalition partners and allied independent members.

MQM has 25 seats in the federal parliament and could theoretically bring down the government unless the PPP can shore up replacement coalition partners.

The federal government’s third coalition partner, the Awami National Party, on Tuesday pledged public support for the PPP after JUIF’s withdrawal.

You better read the full news about their sacking. Read as follows:

What PM has done any sane leader could have done it. So don't misguide here. As regard military rant, you tell me what Pakistan has gained from military rule? Be specific. At least limited time democracy has done much better job than those corrupt and retard dictators, what Pakistan is today is due to outcome of their rule.

Re: Gilani sacks two Fed ministers...

I would like PPP government to stay because I am more at unease with the alternative, Nawaz.
But unfortunately this government is making some really stupid choices. First against JUIF and now against MQM. In both cases they could have managed to get their way without creating unnecessary confrontation.

Now they are begging JUIF. Let's see.
