When a divorce occurs, does the girl have to give her gifts back Islamically - ex. outfits (which, amount to a substantial lump sum of money), jewelry (gold/silver, stones), and expensive items like fancy watches, perfumes, etc, or does she get to keep it all?

According to Islam, whatever is given to the wife cannot be demanded back. Once you give something to someone it becomes theirs. The exception can be in the case of khula, where the wife can demand to be released in exchange for something (either gift or her mahr).
