apart from that when you have agreed to get into a relationship which itself is basically wrong according to Islam, why then fussing over minor things like exchange of gifts. what about the bigger wrong you have already committed.

obviously if the story is different, the guy’s intentions are good and he does plan to marry the girl. then it should be official and parents should get involved as soon as possible
