Invaders normally are not perceived positively due to their loot and similar activities of invaded areas.
Subcontinent evidenced such invasions and invaders continuously. Did these invaders contributed something positive to the area or their loot is dominant to hilight such contributions?
more the language than culture. i think given that UK's national dish is now chicken tikka masala, and indians still dont eat anything significantly british, culturally we invaded :P

Good that the example of invaders being invaded. :)
I think the invaders and other foreigners (sufis) etc, had a big impact on the people on the land. As far as the development is concerned, GT road, hotels, buildings etc of that time period.

But Ali don't you think that areas where these invaders could not penetrate much (like South India) got good share of bindings, roads and hotels?

Nothing like Taj Mahal and the likes. Besides these guys have had a big impact on what ever we are now, as our languages are loaded with their words. I dont know how things would have been if we were never invaded.
infra structure, educational system and administrative system.
GT Road was made on the footsteps of a road made by Asoka.. Indian education system was famous all over world and it created surgeons thousand years before these invasions. administratively, locals were not far behind than the invaders

But again who made Taj Mahal and wherefrom they got its material. There are many beautiful Mandirs, which shows that locals knew architecture and if Mughals not invaded India, there might be something equal to Taj Mahal by locals

The region (most of it remained part of the same empires) from around 1500 to 1947, although before that for long periods of time the area used to be divided into various small kingdoms with small periods of unity. You can take that as a plus from the invasions.
India would have its own civilizations, but the Gandhara civilization in Northern Pakistan was also an Afghan based civilization. Can we call that a local civilization or a foreign?

But if we see it from a different perspective, this unity finally lead to division of India into 3 countries :)

Yes it was under Afghan influence, but again current Afghan civilisation is far difference than the Gandhara civilisation.
Invaders have been mingling with invaded since long in South Asia. Evidence of this mixing is everywhere, for example many shades of skin people have, even when living side by side.
Even Aryans, who are forefathers of current Hindus, were invaders at one time. And yet their language, Sanskrit, now forms the core of most languages in South Asia.
