Mahnoor, What kinda books does he read? I might be able to make a few suggetions for that.
and as for the poem, my suggestion would be that it shouldn't sound like a toddler's first venture in the poetic domain. Talk about how he has inspired you in the real life, the way he has helped you evolve into a better human being and the importance of him in your life as a role model. The closing verses should include the word 'Dad' or 'Abbu' whatever you call him.
