I am so confused. I have a baby shower to attend this weekend and i have no idea what gift should i get. The thing is that i was planning to make a gift basket (shes having a girl) containing clothes, toys, teether, a cloth book etc. But i was planning to give it after the baby is born. Now i dont know how should i distribute the gifts between the baby shower and when baby is born. Actually she is also going to have aqiqa, i shall probably have to get something at that time too. What should i give her at her baby shower? Ideas? and how to maintain the gift budget while giving presents in three installments. Help me people!

You should split the gifts between the shower and aqeeqa. Make a small basket for the shower. Give mithai, flowers or an oversized stuffed toy or something when the baby is born.

At the baby shower give her something she will need...like from her registry. when the baby is born give her a stuffed animal, like star suggested or balloons with followers. at the birth you can also get a fruit basket, candy basket, or anything she can serve when ppl come visit her at the hospital or the house (i loved it when i got a edible arrangements at the hospital and i offered it to my visiters.) For the aqiqa give the baby some clothes (since by thn u will knw her size as well.) Toys, books, and cash also work.
i wuld budget it to be $50, $25 and $50.

Nice ideas girls. I have already bought two suits for the baby, i guess i should keep it for the aqiqa. I guess i should skip the idea of the gift basket as i was thinking before. Man its so confusing :p

O M G…i was searching for ideas too past 2 days now!!
My sister is 5 months pregnant and i am going to arrange a baby shower
for her in feb, so i do have some time yet to plan 
I would say go with the gift basket idea and just put in some of the bits and bats you already have
like a bottle, muslin cloths, baby lotion and some choccies for the mother to be for deco idea’s check out youtube
At birth just take what the girls mentioned above mitai, clothes for baby and a teddy
hope all goes well and please fill us in with what happened at the shower and what stuff they had

I think what you bring when you go to meet the baby for the first time should be something small. Like under $10. Just a little stuffed animal or toy or something. The proper gifts can be at the shower and aqiqa. And those can be split sort of evenly, depending on your budget. (If the first time you meet the baby is the aqiqa, obviously, you can just give one gift then).

Ok so my friend needs a bath tub for the baby which she hasnt bought yet. I am thinking of giving her the bath tub with bathing accessories. I will follow Sahar’s advice and give the main gift at the shower. Then when i shall go to visit the baby i will take something like

the meet-the-baby gift seems fine.
the bathtub seems fine too, but it is very girly. would you want to get something more neutral she can use again in the future if iA she has a boy? did she register for one?
also, when is the aqiqa? what size clothes did you buy?

^ The aqiqa will be in January. I have got one 0-3 months and the other for 6 months. Sahar did you get the tub for your daughter? If yes then which one?

Why not give the clothes at the shower, since you have them already? (some kids grow out of 0-3month stuff very quickly)

I was also thinking of buying the tub in neutral colors. But they come usually in either blue or pink so i was more inclined towards blue-green color as it is kind of more neutral than pink.

i have the same bath tub in blue, and have been using it for my son. I love it, the net was perfect when he was smaller and now i use it without it. I got the pink one from target (for $24.99) for a friend and she loved it too. babiesrus dont have the pink one.
since you are thinking abt giving her a tub…you can give it at the babyshower, and when you go meet her give her towels, wash clothes and a rob. i had two set of each item and in three month ended up getting more wash clothes and two more towels.

^ only problem was wrapping it...i ended up getting an outfit that i gave at the babyshower and right after the babyshower transfered the tub to her car.

hello ladies, its the first time I am writing in this section of the forum, but i must say its very usefull for mothers like us........ I am also a mother of two little girls......
Well according to me, if u have already purchased clothes, then u can make a diaper cake or towel cake with them and make it assorted with all the clothes and bath accessories, you can make it yourself at home and it will be very eye catching too. see youtube for tutorials on that.
Secondly if ur planning to purchase a bath chair u can gift it too at her shower and keep the clothes and accessories for aqiqa. At birth its better to take some sweets or edible items with u nicely presented in a basket. It will b helpfull for the mom, they can present them to visitors too.
