once again VERY SORRY...i have not heard of this before.

After completion of Quran Paak (for kids who learn to recite the Quran paak completely) the parents celebrate the aameen ceremony for the kid.

It was my 9 year old cousin's Ameen a few weeks ago and we just bought a Congratulations card, wrote a nice message in it and placed $200 inside so that she can buy something of her choice.

Other families who attended gave a card with $100 inside or gave gifts such as jewellery, decorations for her room, etc.

Giving money to a 9 year old isnt going to give her much joy IMHO. They money will go to the parents and they might or might not buy her toys and gifts from that money or they will probably save it for her expenses for later on. She needs something fun to recognize her hard work.

I would give the money and a card AND an inexpensive toy or plaything. Card is for memory, money is for monetary help, inexpensive toy is for instant joy.

cheegs is right.......the child needs to feel like she has been rewarded for a long and difficult task.....

Thanks to all of you for your feedback, I bought a nice maroon color woolen outfit for her from JCPenney and a nice congrats card.
