Please suggest some gift ideas for a Birthday boy who is turning 6 this weekend. I don’t want to just give cash or a gift card, I want to get an actual present…but what? What do 6 year old kids like, what is fun?

All I can think of is Radio Control cars. Are they too cool for Diego stuff?

^ yeah, they are :p my son hasn't watched diego in ages, because apparently 'it's for babies'
maybe some sort of board game? i recently got my son Battleship, and he loves it. it's a bit of a difficult game, so maybe something that's a little easier to play with.
pokemon cards/trading cards..if the little boy is into that kinda stuff.

My cousins seem to be into the new Star Wars cartoons, featuring Anakin and Obe Wan. There are video games and action figures.

hahah, my 7 years old daughter is totally into Clone Wars (that is what you are talking about, new Star Wars cartoon). She claims to be the biggest star wars fan and feel offended if you tell her that there might be others.

you might want to consider some sort of "Science Experiment Kit".....these are quite popular with the age group.

muzna great idea, but some of the stuff was out of budget..some of the toys..the star wars etc sets are like 80-90+ what is up with that....even simple little figures are sooo much $$$
I ended up getting a duno what to call it, but an electronic drum synthesizer...which seemed cool. I remembered the kid had some guitar thing and seemed to really like that....so i thought this seems fun, and the label says 6+....its not a cheesy fisher price type so i hope he likes it....hmm

Hmm .. how about Bicycle with removable training wheels? Scooter? Skateboard with helmet and protective gear? Roller skates with helmet, pads and guards? Water gun? Toy baseball pitching machine that comes with bat/baseball? They all fall under your budget !

You can buy remote control boat, remote control dinosaurs usually kids love them, remote control cars.

i love buying educational toys for my nieces and nephews from ELC, early learning centre and i love buying children's books. infact i am addicted to buying books for them. there are just too many amazing varities of books for kids and my nephews and nieces love them!!
my friends love it when i gift their kids with fun children's books and they always say its a lovely change from clothes and toys.
you could also buy them the small, inexpensive educational laptops which they can learn spelling on etc. argos sell them. vtect.
