Hey girls,
I really want to give my fiance a nice watch as part of the wedding gift but I don’t know where to start. I know nothing about men’s watches. I heard Oris, Raymond Weil and Movado are good brands (I’m sure there are other brands that are good if not better) but my question is, how much do watches like this cost? I’m on a budget but I still want to get him something nice at the same time. Are there any stores in the Toronto area where I can get the REAL name brand watch for a good price? Can I trust the Mum/Pap shops to give me the real thing or should I stick to the big stores that are overly priced? Your advice is much appreciated! Thanks!
Re: Gift for groom - seeking help.
my fiance has a Movado ...n that one was $850ish and i believe they are the lowest priced in the fine watches. i worked for a Dillards and used my empl. discount on the watch along with other sales ...and end up paying only $500 for it (that was 4 years ago). so u really have to shop around for a deal.
I dont trusth mum/pap stores so for our wedding ill be going to a bigger store.

Hubby got me a Movado for my bday and its cost him around $700. My bro got a Movado from my parents at his grad. according to my dad it cost him a half month's salary so I guess they can be pricey! I think they start at $500 to $600.

Ok well me and my fiance went into a really upscale watch store in the mall the other day and the price tags I was seeing were upwards of $3000!!!
We live in Canada by the way. Everything is cheaper in the U.S.
If you are purchasing a fine watch, make sure that you purchase it from a registered dealer. There are a lot of stores that sell Tag Heuers, Omegas, Cartiers or other top name watches that are not registered dealers - they carry "grey market" goods. The item it legitimate, not a knock-off - but the manufacturer will not honor the warranty on the watch if its not bought from their registered dealers - so you risk not being able to get the watch serviced if there are any issues with it.
The registered dealers all advertise the MSRP - but they can all discount 15-35% easy. The watches bought from a non-registered dealer might be even cheaper or better discounted - but be forewarned about the lack of warranty.

Candy_Apple, I am talking about Canada too. Trust me not everything's cheaper in U.S.! :)
