I need some really good ideas please…this girl has pretty much all things that she could want…except the bigger items that I really can’t afford to give her like a car and stuff.
I was thinking of a gift card for amazon or some store but I found that to be so impersonal…
A photo book (it would cost about $30) where you can compile the story of her life thus far in photographs and words. You can have all of the aunts/uncles/cousins write a page about a specific picture and the memory it brings back for them.
Go to blurb.com (or a similar website). N can help you make it - so it would be especially personal and made with love.
Oh, and throw in a great handbag! Now that she's 19 - she'll appreciate a designer bag.
Back when i was a teen... I LOVED books and appreciated them more than jewellary or handbags...so if u know what she is into, its eaiser to give gifts.
She will be syarting uni soon right? Or college... Maybe something that students need... Hmm...
I send my 15 month old niece chocolates and cookies. Otherwise gift cards are just fine IMO. That way they can get what they really want and isn't much of a headache for you.
she's just finished her first year of uni (headed for med school iA) so she's pretty swamped with studies.
she used to be a book worm but since all the academic stuff got really intense I haven't seen her have the time to read for pleasure.......
I've gotten her a couple of designer bags in the past....
I like the Hot Air Balloon Ride idea and the customized book idea......let me check those out now....
giftcard doesnot seem impersonal. i mean u can always accompany it with chocolates/cake or a nice card if you think giftcard on its own will look plain.
A Digital photo frame? Its like a live slide show of pictures. Could be of her family, herself growing old, people/celebrities she likes or things OR with all of it combined and much more. The cheapest Sony digital photo frame costs about $50-$60 with a capacity/storage of 200 pictures.
Get her an ' experience' gift certificate, where she select an activity and go with a friend to enjoy it. these things vary by region but there is enough of a variety that she will find someone interesting and it will be memorable.
I like the experience idea........these sorts of things become a part of one's life more so than tangible items.
Btw Sehrysh....I'm using Blurb for my brother's milestone birthday next month. Thanks for reminding me about this.....I faintly recall storing this idea away a long time ago but, as per norm, forgot completely about how nice it is.
I gave this to one of my relative and he really enjoyed it. Getting on controls of airplane and actually fly it for 10-15 min is a wonderful experience for most of the people.
