I was just wondering if my knowledgeable fellow guppies would be able to help me with a question or two about ghusl or to be more precise ghusl e janaabah.
Basically there was some conflicting discussions going on recently which got me thinking…
Someone said that it is not premissible in Islam to sleep in the state of Janabaah, therefore you should perform ghusl immediately.
Is this correct? I am just concerned, because it isn’t the ideal when trying to conceive and I wouldn’t wnt to think that I was in the wrong?
Also, even after ghusl e janabaah, there is often secretion/discharge, is it permissible for a woman to perform namaaz etc? Just thinking of this one, because of the implications of going out etc if you are still considered to be napaak?
ASAK Wanna-be-mum. people are giving you wrong information. Here is that actual Hadees they talk from.
Prophet Mohammed (PBUH) said that angels of blessing do not enter a house which has a picture of living being, a dog or a Junubi (one who is in Janabaah) in it.
Ulema (according to Hanafi maslak, and I dont think that there is a conflict with others in this) say that this hadith refers to a Junubi who is not taking a bath without any reason, i.e he/she has means and time to do that.
If one is sleepy and sleeps in that condition then its OK. Following hadith is in Bukhari
(16) Narrated 'Aisha and Um Salama: At times Allah's Apostle used to get up in the morning in the state of janaba after having sexual relations with his wives. He would then take a bath and fast. (Book #31, Hadith #148
17) Narrated Abu Bakr bin 'Abdur-Rahman: My father and I went to 'Aisha and she said, "I testify that Allah's Apostle at times used to get up in the morning in a state of janaba from sexual intercourse, not from a wet dream and then he would fast that day." Then he went to Um Salama and she also narrated a similar thing. (Book #31, Hadith #153)
Does not it show that Prophet Mohammed (himself) use to go to sleep in that condition.
For your second question, its better to wait for secration/discharge to stop and then do wadoo and namaaz. If that is an ongoing/continous problem then do fresh wadoo everytime its time for Namaaz (i.e do not perform two farad prayers with the same wadoo)
Again this is Hanafi/Deobandi explanation. But it should be the same for everyone. I suggest that you buy Behashti Zewar of Maulana Thanvi. An excellent book on day to day masaails like such.
Thanks brother Tariq Khan for the valueable references.
I read a hadith in past about this issue. However, I can't post a reference as I can't recall where I reading. Here is the jist of it. If one is in a state of Janabat or Janabah, he/she should perform ghusl ASAP. If that can't be done, then the filth from the body should be washed and the wudu should be made before sleeping. If that can't be done then at least the filth should be removed from the body by washing before sleeping. Wallahu Alam.

Dear Ramy… there are three hadith in this context and are in Muwatta Imam Malik
Yahya related to me from Malik from Abdullah ibn Dinar that Abdullah ibn Umar related that Umar ibn al-Khattab mentioned to the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, that he would sometimes become junub in the night. The Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said to him, "Do wudu and wash your privates, and then sleep."
Yahya related to me from Malik from Hisham ibn Urwa from his father that A'isha, the wife of the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, used to say, "If you have intercourse with your wife and then wish to go to sleep before doing ghusl, do not sleep until you have done wudu as for prayer."
Yahya related to me from Malik from Nafi that Abdullah ibn Umar, if he wished to sleep or eat while junub, would wash his face, and his arms to the elbows, and wipe his head. Then he would eat or sleep
