ghusl and wudu

For the longest time I thought Istingah (cleaning oneself with water on the toilet) was part of Wudu. I always thought that in order for your wudu to be complete, you have to start off with Istingah.

Recently someone told me that this is not the case and that I dont need to use the toilet in order to do wudu.

Also I was reading a children’s book about wudu and it said not all part have to be done 3x. i.e U dont have to rinse your arms and wash your feet three times. Once is acceptable. Again, I did not know this.

Did you guys know this?

Also, how do you do Ghusl. The way I do it and was taught is different than the way other peole I know do it. Is there a set procedure and order?

Re: ghusl and wudu

well......i know what you are talking about.....

I was never taught that istinja was part of wudu......... it is to be done whenever u take a dump...and also its not needed when u fart.....

Re: ghusl and wudu

istinja is **NOT**** required to initiate wudu.

*you perform wudu according to the fiqh you follow.* i do all arkaan 3 times. i never heard that doing arkaan once is acceptable.

*Ghusl are of two types...Ghusl-e-Haajat [mandatory Ghusl] *and** Ghusl-e-Ghair Haajaat [voluntary Ghusl]*...*

Ghusl-e-Haajat is required under certain conditions**** and it starts with *wudu. *all parts of your body needs to be wet** [water must run over entire body] *including hair and crevices to complete the mandatory Ghusl.* you start with pouring water on your right side and the on your left side. if you take shower or bath, you don't have to. the right side first is just a sunna and NOT farz.**

Re: ghusl and wudu

One friend of mine makes a comment.
He says why are we sunni musalman , kion k hum sun k musalman hoo-a hain. Hamara eman suni sunai batoom per qaim hay. ( no disrespect to any sect is intended it is just a light hearted comment)
Why I am saying that because for many years I skipped praying namaz at home because I had heard so much emphasis on praying in masjid that I thought that if you do not go and pray in masjid then it no use praying at all. :smack:
What is the lesson learned , go read various books , get as much as knowledge you can about your religion and it becomes easier and easier and very practical to follow.
Then the basic requirements of wudu are four, everything else comes from sunnah. If you follow that you get extra reward otherwise your wudu is complete as per those requirements in Quran.
There are some facts and then there are some myths.
Like you will hear that people say that after namaz if you leave the ja-namaz spread out on the floor make sure you turn a corner otherwise shaitan will pray namaz. :smack:
Let him pray , he is in need of praying more than anybody.
They forget that in Majid there were no carpets in the days of Holy Prophet(SAW) and people use to pray on bare floor , how would you turn the corner of bare floor. :@:

Re: ghusl and wudu

I wasn't brought up in a household where a big importance was played on ACTIVELY PRACTICING Islam. So when I decided I wanted to practice, I taught myself using kids books initially, so yeah, I was aware of the not having to wash forearms and feet 3x. My husband also reiterated that as far as he was aware "washing" the arms and feet once was farz and the extra times recommended. And with regards to Istingah my husband was the one to tell me that I dont have to do it everytime, that even if I pass gas I just have to re-do my wudhu. Sidenote: he said that if you pass wind after and your bot bot is still wet you have to do Istingah again, I havent read up to confirm this but if it ever happened I would just do it again to make sure anyway.

With regards to Ghusl, (my mum taught me this) You have to do Istingah. Wash your hair, EVERY hair must be wet. Then wash the right half of your body and then the left.

Re: ghusl and wudu

I was told when I was a kid that Istinga is must for wadu..coz may be accidentally u had pass gas and you didn't know, and u will just do wadu without doing Istinga that wadu is not expectable.
So I have this habit whenever I do wadu, first the Istinga part and then complete wadu 3x.

For ghusul...istingaa..then wadu..then I wet+shampoo my hairs.then as halima said I wet my right side of body and the. Left side ..and yes I read somewhere that you don't only have to wet the right and left side of body but u have to do Musah All body parts...

Ps..i think 3x is sunat..( not sure about it)' only Allah knows better.

Allah’s Messenger said, The key to Paradise is prayer and the key to prayer is cleanliness (Ablution).

A desert Arab came to Allah’s Apostle and asked him about ablution. He demonstrated (washing each part of his body) thrice, and then said: That is (the method) of the ablution. And he who does more than this has done wrong, transgressed the limit and has oppressed (himself).

**Wudu (Ablution): How to Perform
