Ghulam Ali finds ‘more love, affection in India’

Bangalore, May 4. : Pakistani ghazal maestro Ghulam Ali, today said there should be more exchange of artistes between India and Pakistan as it would be of mutual advantage and spawn more goodwill between the two neighbours.

“The cultural exchanges should be more so that it generates more goodwill between the two countries,” Ali, whose renditions in his typical baritone has cast a spell on ghazal lovers cutting across the border barriers, said.

Ali, who was here for a performance after a gap of seven years, was speaking to reporters at the famous ISKCON temple where he served food to the underprivileged children under ‘Akshya Patra’, a nutritious mid-day meal scheme of ISKCON.

Not new to India having been a visitor for the last 24 years, he said he had visited several countries but found more “love and affection” in India.

On artistes joining politics, he said it was a matter of individual choice.

A presentation on ‘Akshaya Patra’ covering about 51,000 children in and around Bangalore and ISKCON’s plans to replicate the programme elsewhere in Karnataka and in Delhi was made to Ali.
