I dont believe in ghosts per say…but I do believe in angels, jinn and the after life and try to be a good muslim…
but recently on different occasions, I feel a presence in my house, the kids have too,I have a spine tingling sensation, things have moved or slipped (shadowy figure type)we account for them logically and then feel the need to leave the house for a while…
someone said kids see imaginery friends who are in reality ghosts???
I read and ask the kids to read astgfhar etc to keep calm more than any thing else..
Is it paranoia vahaim or should I do something, look into it or read something…or ignore it..
Never have encountered such an event but they say in a house where ayat ul kursi is read jinns cannot enter. Reading it before going to sleep and after waking up should be effective to keep you protected. Hope you feel safer after this!
its all vahm...do NOT worry...there may be some physical/medical reasons for that. u may wish to see a physician for the sensation in ur spine. whenever u have this feeling say astaGhfaar and may be one time sura "bismillah irraHmaan irraHeem...Qul aaoozobinnaasi malikinnaasi Ilaahinnaasi min sharril waswaasil Khannaasil lazii yuvasveso fee sudoorinnaasii minal jinnate wannaas. aameen" :)

Have your kids seen anything? I don't believe in ghosts as in the undead. However, I do find it plausible that there may be jinn. Recitation of Ayatul Kursi is definitely a good thing to do. From what I know (which is very little), Surah Baqara is good for this type of thing.
GOI - ASSALAM ALAIKUM WA REHMATULLAHE WA BARAKATUHU Sister!
Almost everyone has said the right thing here. I would just add, that these are “whispers” of the shaytan. He causes human beings to depair about unknown things. However, certain things in our life also cause us to sometime fall prey to “superstition” or 6th sense type of feelings (in a wrong way). Some things affecting you and family could be:
New house where you are not used to “creaks and cracks and winds passage”.
There is an air leak in your house, or perhaps intentionally opened windows causing relative movement of warm/cold air.
Recent viewing of scary movie, discussion or reading of a mystery/superstitious story/novel.
Discussion with some one about such matters at work/home etc.
You or your children are sensitive these days due to some family events or extra stress causing stimulated sensory observations.
You don’t practice sunnah supplications (duas) regularly which ward off “jins” as some posters suggested. Sheytani Jins do accompany us and that is why the Prophet (saw) taught us all these duas to ward them off.
Also to Re-calibrate yourself about some of the “ghost/superstitions” you can read this article /answer on the topic…
here is another funny story from my own experience…
I remember just a few days ago my family and I were in our bedroom which is a bit large. I knew already that the doors to the hallway, and bathroom are very balanced (meaning they don’t rub against the frame) so the slightest air movement actually causes them to move in the frame. For some odd reason the door to the hallway was closed, perhaps one of my children did it.
Well suddenly that door knocked (in reality it hit the frame due to air movement in the room). I was already teasing my girls, so I told the 9 year old, “OH!! did you hear that???” and knowing she is the sensitive one, she immediately replied “yes…I did…what was that???”
so I teased her that it was actually a jinn behind the door…my older daughter did not believe me but the 9 year old was falling for it 50%…so I slowly walked to door and created some drama…and then opened the door rather mysteriously…to a giant roar that I gave out…they all screamed and then laughed..
Basically I wanted the 9 year old to learn that there was nothing there…then I gave her my “scientific” explanation of how air moves and how so many times at night that door creates a knocking sound making me and their mother think they one of them is actually knocking during the night and they need something but when I go there I find there is no one there. So now my wife and I just yell out like most parents - “kiya baat heay…who is it - just go pee and go back to bed…”!!
Hmmm thanks, just need assurance from time to time that my scientific approach is the right one... i,m not a believer in this stuff..
alhumdolilah we do our daily prayers and dua as a family but.definitely agree that the shaitaan is pulling our negative thoughts over our positive ones ...
