Tanhaeyoon ke sath shakebai de gaya

Aankhoon ko ashk dil ko khalish soch ko tarap
Tohfay tarah tarah ke woh harjai de gaya

Har cheez ban gae thee tamaasha nigaah mein
Logoon ko taza soch-e-tamashai de gaya

Aaya tha kaun dosh bahar-e-hayat per
Be-rang lala-e-zar ko raanae de gaya

Mein jis ko apni zaat mein karta raha talaash
Woh mere ilm-o-fan ko pazeraai de gaya

Na aashna thay lazzat-e-soz-e-jigar se hum
Kya jaane kaun zouq-e-shanasaai de gaya

Kirnoon ka taj orrh kar aya woh jab kabhi
Mahool-e-kam nigaah ko benaae de gaya

Woh shaks mohtarim hai tau us ka ehteraam
Jo na-tavaan nazar ko tawanai de gaya

‘Irfan’ hamaari nazam chappi jis ke naam se
Shohrat woh hum se cheen ke ruswai de gaya …
