It depends on your social group. because pakistan mey agar auraat bahar kaam karay toh its a thes to her husband’s izzat in some people’s eyes too. maybe you should not work outside then if we are going to go with outdated gender stereotypes

shes probably speaking in context of the specific social circle that shes interested in, and within that circle its quite possible for only certain stereotypes to be outdated. working ladies are fairly common in Pakistan, dishwashing men are still quite rare, as per irem bibi’s reaction.

Correct, and actually in many circles dishwashing women are rare too as maasis work for peanuts anyways and even in very average houeholds they have maasies who come in to do the housework.

Regardless, the point, which you understood was that there is not one culture, what is acceptable for a young couple living in clifton may or may not be acceptable for a tribal dude living in FATA.

My view, do what you want and what you feel like doing, how much you share is your business, and how people react is their business. Desis get s-h-o-c-k-e-d at anything and everything anyways.

People who are not comfortable with your lifestyle, are probably not the best people to have in your social circle anyways and then you can always purge and discard the undesirables

my father helps out with the cooking sometimes. he thinks he cooks better than my mom. teases her about her cooking, etc. its cute.

And again, this shows which men are intelligent and which men are not. You want to have some romance and shomance in the bed with the wify? Help her with the cooking and while cooking flirt with her. Or during ironing or washing clothes or making the bed, or whatever. She’ll be like putty in your arms after 3 hours.

Good God. I think your American education was a serious waste. Usually when people go abroad for education they end up learning more than engineering (or medicine, law, whatever they go to school for). You meet many types of people and while you wouldn't practice their lifestyles you realize that the world is a very big place and all types of people exist. You, however, sound as if you've never stepped foot outside your little pind your entire life. It's one thing to be proud of your culture, but to be S.H.O.C.K.E.D. that some men are willing to perform house tasks suggests your very narrow view of the world.
