This Cave, the sanctum of the Holy Prophet Mohammed (peace be upon him), the place of His devotions and meditations and the sacred spot where the Holy Quran began to be revealed. The Cave is situated on mount Al-Noor on way to Mina near Makkah and its peak is visible from a great distance. Muhammad (peace be upon him) had jus stepped into the forty-first year of his life, when during a night in the month of Ramadan the first 5 verses of the Surah Al-Alaque were Revealed to him.
I missed two things on this Hajj…One was praying in Meeqat and the other was going to Hira…
We were on our way to Arafat when we passed it by…I really wanted to go there…But luckily our bus broke down right in front of Al-Noor, so you could sort of see it from a distance…So, for about 10 minutes, we just sat there looking at it imagining the time when our Prophet :saw: used to go there…
Bibi Khadija used to carry his food over there all the way from Makkah, and it’s a pretty long walk…
It was good but it was freezing cold. I felt bad for all the men, especially the night we spent in Muzdalifah. It was freeeeeezing and all the men were just shivering. We did a ziyarat of Mecca and Madina. I posted the pics in the Travel and Tourism forum.
There were these ruins at the top of a mountain in Madina, close to where the Battle of Uhud took place. It's rumoured that women would hide out there and use the place to store food and water for men who were in battle. Don't know how true that is, but the whole place is full of history, that's what I loved the most.
Personally, I found Madina to be so emotionally overwhelming. Very calming and peaceful there.
I agree. Mecca was treated really badly by the Hajjiis. I was a bit shocked, but oh well. Thank goodness they are stricter in Madina. Madina was soooooo nice. I could stay in Masjid-e-Nabi forever. The whole place was just so calm, peaceful and beautiful ... and clean!!
madina is the place where the prophet SAW found refure from the harsh kuffar of makkah so i find it natural that muslims would find refuge there and find it hospitable. after so many reports from so many ppl about this i think that the residens of madina inherited the hospitality of the ansar. they inherited the zeal to take care of the people who have left their homes families and country to come to the city of the rasul, so whenever people go for pilgrimage there, they are in the state of leaving their homes families and countries and thus get similar treatement that the muhajireen got from ansar. wallah o alam.
I saw it during my haj and several visits during umras.
When its not crowded the peacefulness is overwhelming and engorges you.
Face mountain has a medium steep asend and once in the cave the other side is a flat straight drop like a fort wall which is very scary and a long way down ,, I estimated a 1000 + feet drop,,,
There are several cemented steps from the face side leading to the core cave and on the way up there are 'local 'labourers' willing to add a 'cemented step' at a cost of 50-100 Riyals to the existing chain of steps, and you also get to write your message or name on it too.
First I thought it was bit too 'worldy' then I gave in to the temptation as well,,,I dedicated a step for the memory of my Mom and Dad,, Allah knows better.
