Recent interviews of Benazir and Nawaz Shareef. Interesting to see how they respond to the question about democracy within their parties. It goes without saying that BB is much more capable of handling the media than NS. Then again, the BB interviewer was useless so who knows. Anyhoo, for those who missed:

Has someone asked NS about making Cheif of Army Staff, ghair Fa'aal, and what was his reference against him on 12th of October, 99.
Nawaaz himself is the product of Fauji dictator and now he is acting as a pillar of democaracy.
Benazir cannot even speak proper urdu. this is how much she loves and respect pakistan that in last 21 years, she did not even tried to learn pakistan's national language. I think that Sonya Gandhi can speak better hindi . Even Altlaf Hussain learned sindhi
NS and BB are nothing but bunch of bulls. It is so sad that our nation can't see beyond them to find her leadrs for the future

That is the unfortunate thing about Pakistan politics, large pool of 'potentials' was brought up in the scene by military/ISI games creating a vacuum of true potential leaders, NS was made popular instead of someone who could've really made a difference.

Its not about "see beyond them", its what is presented to them by our political parties... BB is announced leader for life, NS will remain leader for life un-announced due to "popularity" hence we will see these two jokers take turns in the circus/game. There is no "democracy" in the "champions of democracy parties".

although there too, the old boys need to make a decision to just step aside and stay involved as advisors but let new leadership emerge.
JI used to have elections but ever since Qazi became leader he refused to step down when it was time for election... so it has been a while since any election took place in JI.

Really, I thought that Qazi is being relected, for more terms. Just like Mian Tufail. I think he was elected and then re-elected 3 times.
But refusal of a leader to step down usually results in more factions (we've seen that in PPP, already and in almost every other party. I was wrong about PTI in a previous thread). We did not see any quo situation within JI. Maybe Qazi was democratically choosen leader of his party for life.

Not really, I can't recall the exact time-frame/year when elections in JI were due and Qazi refused to step down which resulted in few thinking heads to quit and form a separate party which faded away, may be after that "leaders" within JI felt compelled to elect him 'leader-for-life' if he really is considered as such now.
