آسان کہنے کی کرتے ہیں فرمائش
گوئم مشکل وگرنہ گوئم مشکل

غالب نام آورم نام و ثنانم میرس
ہم اسد للہم ہم اسد اللہم

(they call me ghalib and ...?)

can someone explain these two?

Re: Ghalib say mileye

گوئم مشکل وگرنہ گوئم مشکل

I think this means ke I can only speak difficult things. its difficult for me to say something which is not difficult. Ghalib was mushkil pasand.. Mushkilen padi mujh per itni ke aasan hogai :halo:

Re: Ghalib say mileye

This share is one of those ash’aar that Ghalib wrote in context of his rivalry with zauq and other contemporary poets. He faced this difficult situation as Zauq used to mock Ghalib for writing too simplistic poetry and people complained its too tough to understand his poetry.
in that context Ghalib said you people ask me to wirte simple poetry but if write simple i cannot face mockery by zuaq or cannot talk with him at same level.

or after listening to other great poets ghalib has developed a taste of writing rich and tough poetry

I dont understand farsi grammar but i guess he is talking (complaining) about his takhallus (pen name) when another poet used same takhallus ‘Asad’ as he used it in his early days poetry.

Following article explains some interesting aspects of Ghalib biography.

ASSAd-ULLAH KHAN GHALIB
His original Takhallus (pen-name) was Asad, drawn from his given name, Asadullah Khan. At some point early in his poetic career he also decided to adopt the takhallus ‘Ghalib’ (meaning all conquering, superior, most excellent).
Popular legend has it that he changed his nom de plume(pen name) to ‘Ghalib’ when he came across this sher (couplet) by another poet who used the takhallus(pen name) ‘Asad’:
Asad us jafaa par buton say wafaa ki
mire sher shabaash rahmat Khudaa ki
Asad worshipped idols after being betrayed.
my poems(thank you,)are, the mercy of GOD.
The legend says that upon hearing this couplet, Ghalib ruefully exclaimed, “whoever authored this couplet does indeed deserve the Lord’s rahmat (mercy) (for having composed such a deplorable specimen of Urdu poetry). If I use the takhallus Asad, then surely (people will mistake this couplet to be mine and) there will be much la’anat (curse) on me!” And, saying so, he changed his takhallus to ‘Ghalib’.
