Getting what you want...

Read/heard this quote somewhere.

“…*f you’re really honest about what you want out of life, life gives it to you.”

Do you think this is true?

Re: Getting what you want...

Yea, I do believe that.

Re: Getting what you want...

It's a romantic thought....kind of like the principal of the book, The Secret, where your thoughts attract things and that believing is enough to get you what you want....or the idea in The Alchemist that if you desire something strongly enough, the universe conspires to bring it to you.

I think it's more complicated than that. Miracles can happen but to get most things, you have to put in effort/take action along with being positive and determined. And even so, sometimes things aren't meant to be.

Re: Getting what you want...

I wish...............but nope!

Re: Getting what you want...

Ummm, not quite sure I believe that....I've honestly wanted/tried/prayed for things, but agar meri qismat main wo cheez nahin likhi hai, then how is it going to happen?

Re: Getting what you want...

I won't say I believe it wholeheartedly but it's stuck to me ever since I heard it (a very long time ago), so it is something I ponder.

I do believe it's true to a certain extent, I do believe in being honest with yourself and others, but I don't think life just hands it to you, you still ahve to work hard for it. I guess it's a little vague but there you have it.

Re: Getting what you want...

I think you'll find people who agree to it and disagree to it.

This is pretty much because of based on their experiences this is true/false.

Thats why I don't really pay too close attention to quotes. Yeah they can be good words that can inspire us or give us hope when we think none is left or bring us up when we have crashing down. But quotes are based on the experience of the person who said them. And no two experiences are the same. Thus, its really hard (impossible) to decide if a quote is true or not.

Re: Getting what you want...

I guess it means if you're honest with yourself about what you want...you will realize what needs to be done to get there as well.

Re: Getting what you want...

Corollary if you are honest abt what you don't want life wont give it to you

Re: Getting what you want...

my elders always tell me that jo Allah se maango gi He will give to you.. just always dua a lot for whatever that you want. i guess naseeb mein hoga toh hoga.. but i still pray for the things i want the most.

Re: Getting what you want...

alhamdulilah, Allah grant me stuff before I desire. and What I desire Allah either fulfill sooner/later or turn away my feelings from those needs.

rosedreams: i m agree.

Re: Getting what you want…

STA Baji, did you get the man of your dreams? Is that him in your avatar??? WOOOOW!!!

Re: Getting what you want...

Well if you stay focused and work around to get your ' want ' ... eventually you will get what you want .. In a way , it is your commitment and hard-work which get paid in the end .

Re: Getting what you want…

No I do not believe on this. This might be a great motivational quote but has nothing to do with actual life.

Yes you should believe in and try hard to achieve what you want to achieve but there is no guarantee that life will give you that.

Key is to keep your wishes and desires at reasonable level and then work for it.

Re: Getting what you want...

I don't believe it/ The notion is very noble however unfortunately there is something called third party interference.

Re: Getting what you want…

This reminds me of what reema said in her latest interview…on being asked if she has learnt cooking, she said no not from mom/family and i dnt even watch these cooking shows or follow any recipies, i just read “darood pak” and Allah tuwakal sab ho jaata hai… i mean okkkkkkkkkk woman give me a break! :halo:dnt get me wrong, i aspire to have that level of faith where i can have that belief in Allah that no matter what Allah wl give me what i want/want to do however this is ridiculous!

I agree with what rv said, sometimes some things are just not meant to be. But that just not meant to be is what we make out of it however im sure there must be a reason for that too.

Re: Getting what you want...

For a split second I thought you might quote Reema in a positive light.
