Getting Ugly

I was listening to the radio and they’re going to make some more office buildings, those ugly glass and concrete buildings. There’s not a tree in sight except for a few on campus and our classes are so overcrowded that maybe those will disappear in a few years too. Doesn’t that suck? I need to remain sane, otherwise I feel as gray as the concrete and the roads. Seriosuly, it’s so ugly, I miss the huge ancient trees from my childhood.

Who else needs trees and greenery (not artificially planted) to feel good and whole and peaceful and all that stuff? I feel a million times better about life, myself and I’m way more motivated and energetic when I’m in a beautiful place. But I can’t even go and build a house out of the city cuz that will make the city bigger and eat up more beauty!!!

Arghh.

sigh

i hear ya sarah

they did that to our campus too :(

You live in an urbanized area not rural. You've got mountains where you live, hiking could possibly bring you what you're looking for.

I haven't ever lived in a place where there was no greenery. I agree that the world would look pretty dull and colourless without greenery. Just looking at those never ending drives through deserts in westside movies makes me feel all dry and parched. Bleah.

I actually feel uncomfortable around greenery. I like being surrounded by the urban jungle.

I spent 3 months living in a countryside town with large open spaces and positively hated it.
