A couple of friends and I are planning a weekend trip to London. One of the things we would like to do during that weekend, is to see a Premier League match live at Stamford Bridge. The issue is:
The match starts at 1.30 pm, so will finish by 3.30 pm. Since our flight will leave from Stansted Airport that same afternoon at 6.55 pm, we would probably have to go to airport directly from the stadium. The question is: Can this be done or is this a crazy idea? We need to be at the airport by 5.30 pm at the latest. Under normal circumstances 2 hours should be enough to get to Stansted from Stamford Bridge, but I’m assuming traffic (public and road) will be very heavy in that area right after the match.

Umer I'd advice against it. Eg at Arsenal it takes us atleast 30 mins to actually get to the station and even more during certain games. After games the tube is jam packed.
If match finishes at 330 it will take you around 350 to get out and to station as there are thousands of people. Then every train that arrives will be full and it will take ages to get there before 530. Every train due to that will stop at every station longer.
As a comparison I went to Arsenal not long ago, took me 30 minutes to get to station in rush hour (thats by walking) then a further 20 to get on a train that wasnt full and this is with Arsenal having FOUR stations around the ground,so I don't think its doable. Atleast in my experience.

Yeah, I wouldn't try it. Will take you ages to get out of the stadium, unless you left about 20 mins early? But then what's the point if you don't stay til the end!

Would have been great, but after reading your responses I think it's too big of a risk. I would have loved to attend the match but of course I don't want to miss the flight either.
