Getting the Words Wrong

I’m not sure where to put this thread, so I decided to put it right here. Mods move it if you need to :hinna:

So, how many of you have ever gotten the words of a song so wrong that you got weird looks from the people around you when you sang the song out loud.

I’m borrowing this from a friend. When she was littler, she loved the Qurbaani song,

“Aap jaisa ko-ee meri zindigi main ayeh to…”

Instead of saying “baat ban jayeh” she used to sing “baap ban jayeh”

Just imagine her parents reaction :hayaa: All that for getting one letter wrong.

Do you have any examples where you said or sang something incorrectly or people interpreted it differently?

Re: Getting the Words Wrong

If you think of it, that is what the actual meaning of song was. This song (or its connotation) is nothing but a more bazaari version of ‘tere mere milan kee ye rena, naya koi gul khila’ai gee’ ..:hehe:

^ True, most Indian movie songs if you go to either the literal or the shairana meaning are not so nice. Most of the conservatives react with an :ast:

But, she took it a step further by (unknowingly) inviting someone to father her child :nahi:

Re: Getting the Words Wrong

OMG :omg: I can’t stop laughing at this…“Baap ban jaaye” :cb:

Re: Getting the Words Wrong

:rotfl: thats amazing

This thread reminds me of my sister…no matter what song she will try to sing she always sings the wrong lyrics…sometimes they are not even close, she just makes up something that goes to the same beat…its so hilarious…but sometimes its excusable such as the times she tries to sing along with a hip-hop or a rap part of a song on the radio…:rotfl:…the lyrics she will come up with are soooo funny and its funnier when she has no idea that she’s singing it all wrong…she thinks that the song is clean but in reality its far from it, so when people hear her singing it they get all confused…

Re: Getting the Words Wrong

I remember once we were young and sitting with our 2 khalas and they were singing old songs for us. My older one started singing
*
Tumhi mere mandir, tumhi meri pooja, tumhi devta ho*

and when she came to this part
*
Tumhi mere maathe ki bindiya ki jhil-mil
Tumhi mere haatho ke gajro ki manzil
Main hu ek chhoti-si **maati **ki guRya *

she said

main hu eik choti see **maasi **ki guRyaa

we were all rolling on the floor with laughter when she sang that.
