..it says something like : a program on your computer has corrupted the search provider..
then it opens another window to fix it.
This happens every time I start IE 8. here is the snapshot of error: drop.io 9spmfrf
anyone knows how to fix it? I did a google search and got some search result that said to delete a registry key but on my machine (xp sp3) there is not such registry key to begin with.
Re: Getting search provider error in internet explorer 8
Firstly, after doing a bit of searching around, the most common response is:
It's still in the beta stages, and that's what beta is for. You try it out and it won't be so smooth in operation. So report it. Someone said they had a similar problem and they were told to do the following:
Click "Tools" >
Click "Internet Options" >
On The "General Tab" Go Down To Where It Says "Search" & Slightly Just Below That You Will See ( Change Search Defaults) & To The Right You Will See A (Settings) Button.
Click On The (Settings) Button, There You Can Change The "Default" Search Engine To Whatever Search Engines You Prefer.Click On "Set Default". That Window Will Close.
Once You Are Done, Click "Apply" Then "OK".
Secondly, use IE7 because IE8 is still under development; however, a Beta2 is out if you want to try that instead.
