Getting my hair thinned..good idea?

aghhh n.e. one have wavy hair? :snooty: im alwayz tryin ma best to straighten up …but when i blow dry them they bcome all puffy n crap n have too much volume in em den :crying:

so my friend suggested to get my hair thinned since i have sooooo much of em n they’re long too so i have such a hard time wid em…even when i went to pakistan n went to stupid salons they were all complainin ke ur hair’s so healthy n long we can’t really do much with it :mad2:

did n.e. of u get it done? or n.e. one knows bout it?? is it fine to get them thinned or do u think dat’ll b a problem for ma hair??/ :hoonh:

What exactly are they going to do to your hair?

hmm well my friend said they’ll layer them and cut them from places that aren’t really visible to mak them look thin :bummer: and not so puffy…her hair looked real nice though

is that right??

It's the same thing as having very heavy layers cut into your hair. But the longer layers are on the top so you can keep your hair length.

^^so should i get it done?? do u think it'll b better for me since i have the problem of hair being heavy n long...

Too many layers look kinda weird, why don't you have it straightened instead i think catty had a thread on it a while back.

get long layers  n a face frame!! but yeah thats alot of blow drying n stuff..

Xchornic, it totally depends on what you want. Layers would solve the heavy hair problem. Permanant hair straightening would make your hair look and feel less thicker because it flattens all the hair cuticles.

layering wont really solve the problem. my cousin had long, thick, curly bushy hair and she had it straightened (yuko system). now she has the straightest silkiest locks, which require no managing whatsoever. I agree with belle here.

Hey I had my hair yuko'd a couple of weeks ago too, for the seond time. Now it feels and looks all 'swishy'.

really? for the second time? how long after having the first one done? you know, i dont think mine was yukod. i think they used some other straightening system. :-/

I have wavy hair. It has grown quite long too. I have no idea what to do with it. Either, I layer it which may potentially ruin the waves I have right now as my hair is all practically, or close to, the same length. Or, I can just let it grow out and see how it turns out.

From my experience, thinning your hair can make it feel light but actually look wilder and thicker especially with wavy hair. Personally, I wouldn't thin it unless I was getting it all layered (long layers).

Catty, I had a two year gap between having it straightened. I only left it so long between treatments due to the cost but you can get mini 'top up' treatments every few months where they just straighten the roots.

Mehnaz, thats what I had done....long layers. You've seen the pic.

Put lots of sarsaN da tail…and chik chak ke gut.

there u go…problem solved.

Yup, i have same kind of hair too - with split-ends - :teary1:
I’ve tried trimming them a couple of times but its keeps splitting & thickening…i suppose its to do with radiater/diet/lack of time to look after it…its quite difficult to wash long hair…my hair kinda frizzy & hard to straighten too…so i just keep it as plait to avoid tangles…
Nowadays i’m using fructis sleek& shine…hope its turns out well…

i have fine hair…and i recently had mine cut in three layers and i came out of the salon humming and skipping…:hehe:…im ever sooo satisfied…
