Re: getting my child registered in out of district school in toronto!
i think you need to show them the address of someone living in that district, but show it as your own home address, for that to happen if its a public school.
private schools will take anyone's money so they don't care so much.
Re: getting my child registered in out of district school in toronto!
I didnt know it could be such an issue :( for this very reason we are planning to buy something around leaside/bennington/forest hill south/deer park/davisville radius, generally good school area.
Re: getting my child registered in out of district school in toronto!
my niece went to a 'French Immersion School' and she had to go to another school district. they said since it's a voluntary thing so they will NOT provide transportation which we didn't need anyway so it was fine with them...so, to make story short, yes! you can choose any school in any school district but the transportation will be your responsibility which i find to be fair. :)
Re: getting my child registered in out of district school in toronto!
^ depends on the school. french immersions are different in that respect like private schools.
dosachick, those are all fantastic areas with great schools (we live in forest hill).
have you also checked around jackman public school on the danforth? it is also very highly rated.

well, i believe you can choose any school you want in Ontario as long as you provide transportation to your child. i'll check with Ontario Board of Education tomorrow, iA.
Re: getting my child registered in out of district school in toronto!
^ no you cant, you have to live in the area, or schools that have some spots leftover, go to optional attendance list. I called around my work, mostly rosedale, summerhill, and whitney, they are all full :( I wanted my son to be 5 minutes from my work, and didnt mind paying after care, but that is not a good enough reason to move, apparently. I saw jackman, but we really aiming for 8.5 or above according to fraser institure rating. Finding a god place around st clair and young to SC and MP might be the answer. Will see, BTW do a child have to be catholic to go a catholic school?? because st micheal choir might be a good option..GOODDD mein kahan phans gaey..
Re: getting my child registered in out of district school in toronto!
hrm, jackman is REALLY good despite the 7.8 rating, which is also a really good ranking on its own especially for a downtown school. they have a lot of parental involvement and offer lots of extras, but yes, it isn’t in your work area.

no, kids don’t have to be catholic. i guess you would let them know so the kids don’t go to religion classes while at school. i’m not sure what your budget is, but have you checked upper canada college? its on avenue.
does forest hill jr.? its ranked 9, i believe. oriole parkway is also highly ranked.
Re: getting my child registered in out of district school in toronto!
the child does not have to be catholic to go to catholic school......but they also will not exempt him/her from religious classes (or so it was with my niece). do double check this if it is important to you.
