Getting married is more complicated than i thought!

I don’t come here often, but I need some advice about getting married in Scotland and I know people are very helpful on this forum. I’m a Canadian and my fiance is a resident of London (Work permit), UK. I need to have our proof of marriage in order to apply for his visa. The issue is that it’s more complicated than we thought!

  1. My fiance can’t find his birth certificate and Scotland registrar’s office said that they cannot produce a marriage certificate without it.
  2. I need a marriage visit visa, which is a tedious process as well.
  3. Before any of the above can take place I need to provide them with the name of the person performing the nikah, the date and location.

We have wasted a month already just trying to figure out where to begin and we are still lost. I am frustrated because we are getting nowhere. It would have been much easier in London but London requires me to stay for atleast 7 days before we can register the marriage. I cannot do that as I have to return to work on the following Monday. Plus since my parents are sending my brother and I they will not allow me to stay more than the period required to complete the nikah.

Can someone please suggest me a good hotel to stay in? Which mosque can I contact to get us registered for a nikah? Is there anyway I can find someone to perform the nikah in the hotel instead of the mosque? Has anyone gone through a similar experience? Any tips would be appreciated.
