one more question how long it takes u to go there i mean..ur visa procedure completed in how many months.

Re: getting married in pak and moving to united states

hey.. congrats on her wedding firstly!
Where in the States is she coming to?

Life in the USA is well different - but nothing that you cant adjust to. iA im sure that she wont have trouble, plus if her husband knws people here who are married it wud be good for her to start building relationships with them. It helps to have people around when your new to the area.

Culturally, its different but then again you bring your traditions and culture with you doesnt matter where u end up going. So iA she shudnt have any problems. Going to the local mosque in her area will help too. Is she going to be studying here or jst stay at home?? things depend on tht tooo..

I am not 100% sure on how long it takes for the process to finish. Im assuming she'll be coming here on a sponsorship visa or an H4. It would be better to look at the USA immigration website for exact info.. but goodluck!

USA is the best!!! i have lived here almost all my life............!!!!! I dont think i helped much did i???

Re: getting married in pak and moving to united states

as far as how long, it depends, is she marrying a permanent resident or citizen?

the difference between life in US and life in Pak depends on what the life in Pakistan was like, it ranges from ppl who have drivers, chefs, maids, dhobis and general help to ppl who really do all on their own. IN US there are ppl who do all on their own or have varying levels of domestic help.

life in US is different for many people, majority of ppl dont have daily domestic help, distances are usually greater, unless u live in downtown or some older areas. of course there are a lot of conveniences that are available to you including grocery drop off and laundry pick up services.

paying bills etc is much easier, I could be mistaken but what i recall was that utility bills had to be paid at the bank, here i have autopay, i dont even see most of my regular bills like utility, phone, gas etc aside from scanning them for any glaring discrepencies.

for her it will not just ne a new place but a new lifestyle overall. how adaptable she is will be the most important thing.

the place she is moving to plays a big role as well, moving to virginia, NY, LA, houston, dallas or chicag etc works for many desis because of a huge community presence in each of these cities, however desmoines , iowa may provide some other challenges in terms of social life, not that I am advocating socializing wth pakistani expats or pakistani origin folks only
