Generally in desi culture men and women in their 50’s and 60’s are left alone once their spouse passes away / separates …

If they wish to remarry , the family discourages them as best as they can for several reasons :

• lok kia kahai gai
• ab aaphki poto ki shadi ki age , not yours ..

some even have fears that the new spouse will get their share in the property etc …

Question is , is this fair on the senior citizens that they are left alone to deal with life at an age when they are the most vulnerable and the most in need of care and and love … shouldnt they be able to marry without feeling the pressure from the society ?
