1: Eh, it'll be seen as an 'exotic degree' but there really is no particular name recognition, no matter what Ivey, etc. want you to think. The degree is still a degree though! It should suffice in most cases unless you are looking to break into the 'elite' industries.
2: Where are you moving to?

General atmosphere won't be much different.. price wise, taxes will be lower in general, but so will social services, especially healthcare.. it's not cheap to get sick even if all you need is a doctor's visit and a prescription, it can get a bit costly if you don't have health insurance (which isn't necessarily cheap or without hassles either)
shopping wise things are usually a bit cheaper in the U.S. If you go to a major metropolitan area or even a medium-sized city, you shouldn't have any problem with racism etc.. most places are fairly tolerant, and desi / muslim communities are of course everywhere.
your Canadian degree should be fine for most jobs. I think most Canadian universities are even officially recognized by the U.S. Dept of Education; you can probably google a bit and look into your specific case.
good luck! :)
