The problem is some of my friends listen to scholars who say that women shouldn't get themselves educated in the west as it's unislamic education, some of my accquaintances firmly believe in this concept so they stop studying/going to school for it's not segregated plus the knowledge you gain there is partly "Haraam".

Well, my friend had her Valima now. She's wearing a full burqa(everything veiled including eyes and hands) and dropped out of school because it'd be unbearable for her to unveil while attending classes. She's got no degree in her hands...she wants to be a housewife and commit herself to hubby, home and deen.

its her decision and if she is happy with it then all i can say is may ALLAH bless her and live happily with her family. :)

I know a short engagement works for some people, but it was a disaster for my poor SIL. Her engagement was very rushed for a couple reasons (MIL's six-month period out of the US was close to expiring, SIL was late 20s and so considered to be getting 'old'), and b/c they used a rishtay wali they didn't know the guy's family in advance. Anyhow, we found out later on that people can conceal a lot of lies and character flaws for a few weeks; unfortunately my SIL is pretty much stuck in a bad situation for life.

I'm really sorry to hear that and I hope my friend won't have to suffer like this, I just wished she would have finished school it was only till may :(
