The woman did the right thing. The first time a man hits a woman (or attempts to do so in this case) will never be the last. Once he does it initially, it gets easier to do it again and again and the cycle of abuse commences. Good on her for getting him arrested and if he has lost his job etc I can only say that this is Allah's way of punishing him. But she is in no way wrong. I am aware of a case where the wife stayed in a relationship for 18 months thinking her husband would stop hitting her. It only intensified over time and she finally got him charged/threw him out. She now deeply regrets not doing it sooner...she hung on, took his beatings, hoping he would change but he only grew worse so it was all for nothing. I wish more women had the courage to have such useless and cowardly men to be arrested. For the other part , Allah will deal with them as he deems fit.
It is kind of tough to ride two horses at the same time. Isn't the whole domestic lifestyle in need of changing to allow for changed times . Many women like many men marry for Visa, you charge with abuse you get to keep the house. The guy was unkind to her and she should have moved out and insisted on counselling. First of all all women need to be financially and emotionally independent.
@About this topic in general. Not related to what you posted. ..i would certainly tell you that..if a man was really abusive..beating you up. YES please call for help. And law must prosecute him to full extent. But if you are making false accusations you know that it is Allah who will protect him. I was talking to this woman lawyer..she is one of the best defense lawyers in Canada. Happens to be my friend's older sister. She was telling me cases where she chewed up the prosecution for falsely accusing her client..which ended up costing way too much. Case was thrown out of the window.
Not every domestic violence case leads to criminal conviction. Well, at least not in the UK. But from your post, it seemed like he threw a sharp object at her which the police classified as a weapon, so presumably it was a knife. This is extremely serious. Extremely dangerous. So the lady in question did the right thing by calling police, and no this is not against Islam at all.
Domestic violence is a serious issue and it affects lot more people in our community than we think! We should encourage people to come forward, report it and actively raise awareness about it.
He flung tea at her and missed and they classified tea as a weapon. They are out to get the brothers.

In cases of domestic violence a man is guilty until proven innocent, here police has to charge the man at every single complain. Knowing the law is very important. It costs thousands of dollars to defend and the judge can only take the females word to convict, making threats is a punishable criminal offence and many immigrants are very casual about making threats and gets them in a lot of trouble, our Palestinian house keeper's brother got jailed for threatening hi wife.

You seem to judge the woman in this case that she was interested in the house and the visa. You are total neglecting the fact that he misbehaved With her and she reported him to the police. You have no Clue about what has been going on in that marriage, for how long and what made this woman og to the police in the end. Police do not file cases unless it is something very serious. They question the victim into details so that they can proceed with the case if there is any case!!!!
If this molvi friend uncle of yours is saying that he only threw chai at her and in Return she made a fuss about it and got him into jain ald got the house too, you might just think again. A man who can hit his wife can also lie in Your face. The fact that he seems religious is no guarantee that he is Perfect, has good values and that his actions reflect his values at all!!!!

haha..firstly that guy is not my friend, I don't make friends. The guy was very harsh with her but never hit her. Police is required to charge the guy if a complaint is made. The immigration website does warn people that people will scam and marry them for immigration. The lady did not marry the guy old. enough to be her dad for love. Her ex husband in Pakistan beat the living daylight out of her ad even after divorce she was scared of him. How come that ex never got arrested in Pakistan. In Pakistan when the domestic violence bill was introduced in Senate it was quashed as against Sharia. Sometimes I feel that some people want benefits from both societies.
