I was inactive for about 6 months, now that I’m going back to gym I find my stamina is at an all time low, I’m getting aches and pains I never had before, and finding it hard to get back into a regular routine.
I’ve spoken to the instructors at the gym, and am doing what they say - ie avoiding running right now or anything strenuous. I have to focus on swimming and water aerobics to get my fitness levels up, because in water you have the least chance of injury.
It gets frustrating and depressing since I cant do the stuff I used to do. Anyone been in a similar position?
I didn't even know you were injured. What happened?
Re. your training: I would really go by the advise of your instructors, ie get back into it slowly and Inshallah you will soon be able to train outside the water. It might be though, but it's still better than getting injured again and falling back into inactivity altogether.
Im a fitness instructor and recently badly hurt my achillies tendon. I train like a freak cos i teach classes so it was a nightmare cos i had to have a month off. Howeva i didnt realise how close i was to actually snapping it-i was! Well it drove me mad but i had to take a full month off. If i wud have snapped it i wud have been out of action for a year!
I know its hard to get back into it after a long break but do what ur instructors tell u. I do understand how u feel tho esp if u had a serious injury. Perservere and take it easy and u will get back into it.
I feel the difference in my performance even if I take one week off. Best thing is to take it easy for the first few weeks and after that try to increase the intensity gradually.
Exactly the same thing happened here Well appart from being a fitness instructor and all But I wasnt allowed to walk for almost 2 months. I started walking the same day and joined gym after just 1 week After a complaint from my parents my GP called me and told me to stay home or else I might become disabled for the rest of my life. So I had to stay home for 4-5 weeks.
After that I didnt really go the gym
