I had a two year long contract working a 10 min walk from Union station, so the GO was the perfect solution. Took it from Erindale Station (Mississauga) to Union five days a week on a monthly pass. Worked out well.
Now i'm working slight bit west out of downtown, around King / Strachan area which means i have to TTC it from Union Station, which is another $5 / 60 minutes (wait, TTC, wait, GO) a day. Plus unexpected traffic patterns can trash the whole plan and i often ended up getting home 30 minutes to an hour late. I did a cost benefit analysis and realized if i simply drive it costs the same in money (TTC + GO + Gas vs Gas + Parking) and saves me a TON of time. Usually if given a choice i would prefer to not drive but i feel the system here has failed me and i am compelled to drive.
PS: I took the Milton line.
Re: Get on the GO
Horrible. I have to say, Georgetown is the WORST line ever. I took the GO for 6 years. Never again.
Re: Get on the GO
once a girl look at me in GO train.
I like GO train.
Re: Get on the GO
Yeah feel sorry for your Georgetowners. My colleagues coming in from Brampton were late three days a week. Luckily though my boss came down from Brampton too.
Jimmy once you get run over by GO train?
Re: Get on the GO
no, a pretty girl look at me.
Its a good option, specially in winter I could totally do that. 5 min drive from home. and 3 min walk from my work.
I might do it this winter.
Re: Get on the GO
So its great if you happen to live / work close to a GO station.
And sadly most of us do not :-(

oooo koi baat naheen
that way we have the word “suckers” ![]()
The GO may not be perfect, but compared to my experiences driving or taking the TTC, it's pretty good.
When I first used to drive downtown, I'd park opposite the ACC - parking was $10 - now it's $14 - a 40% increase in 4 years. Ridiculous. Add to that the fluctuating prices of gasoline - there were weeks when I would pay $150 a week to commute.
Taking the TTC, I was at the end of the bus line and the subway line - a drive that in off-peak hours took me 20 minutes to get to work, on the TTC would take almost 2 hours.
GO has it's issues - it's far from perfect, but for people living in the 'burbs it seems to be the way to go.
Re: Get on the GO
4 years of on the GO. From uni to home (and then some :halo:). Apparently, one of the shortest routes of GO. And i luvs it! The seats are excellent to just curl up on and go to sleep for about 20 mins. Really sucks when there is a snow storm, and all the buses get really delayed and you have to stand outside in the snow for an hour just so you can grab yourself a standing spot in the entire bus so you can go home before Toronto falls apart. The drivers I met with were mostly very nice. They knew we were uni students. I didn’t get my chance to ride on the double decker buses though…boo.
My only complaint: it’s really expensive. Even though i got a student discount, i still found it to be a bit on the expensive side. Monthly passes and 10 ride tickets are the best, never ever ever go anywhere without them. My dad took the GO too, and he loved it too. Better than TTC, and he had to go all the way from Peel to Union.
Re: Get on the GO
Yeah it is a bit expensive. Plus there's no system wide unlimited ride pass. You can only do unlimited ride within your own zone.
Re: Get on the GO
I love goo .... being travelling on it since 2004 and yeah go has some of its own issues and problems but so does every transit in the world heck even airlines have problems so go in my opinion is awesome. I use to go to uni in oshawa, so use to the lakeshore east from port credit. The only problem I had was in the early days there weren't enough students so we had to switch the train from pickering to go a go bus on sundays. Apart from that it was pretty good. Then i changed my route to oshawa to yorku to square1 and didn't have any complains on that. Now i'm at mac and its actually faster to take an express bus than to drive. My best experience was once i got on the wrong bus that was suppose to end the route in oakville instead of comin down to sq1 and the driver still drove only me down to sq1 because she said it was her fault she didn't check my ticket properly. I mean what more can you ask for ..
