‘Divorce’ billboard removed

The city of Chicago has taken down a racy billboard that proclaimed “Life is short. Get a divorce.”
The billboard featured photos of a scantily clad woman and a shirtless man and was an ad for Chicago divorce attorney Corri Fetman.
The display drew criticism from some residents in the Rush Street neighborhood and from other lawyers, who say the ad sullies their profession.
The billboard was removed a week after it went up after Ald. Burton Natarus (42nd) determined it didn’t have a proper permit.
Fetman says her billboard was no threat to people in happy marriages. And she says it was taken down without due process.
Fetman’s law partner, Kelly Garland, added that even people who disliked the billboard should worry about what its removal means for free speech.

It's pathetic to blame women for divorce...
From what I've seen of women (admittedly not many) they all seem to have dreams of having a loving husband and family, and they try and make that dream possible with loads of massive sacrifices.
I blame...
Movies. They've created such pathetic unreal expectations of love and affection in all societies.
Seiously don't blame the women. So many times we see a women holding her tongue in front of her husband. It's very rare to see her husband even hold his tongue once.

Its very difficult to see the true message in that rather tasteless ad unless you happen to know that particular situation...I think their target audience was to people who lead extremely hectic lives, too hectic to even stop and think about whether their own marriage is worth their while. Its not all that uncommon in usa and I was one of those myself. I was working 80-90 hour weeks (and more) on wall st and earning a hefty salary, married to a guy who loved the income and wanted more more more income from me, wanted me to work less hours, be less available for on-call and weekend work, have babies, take care of them and house and I guess feed him grapes while he reaped the rewards ... all the while complaining that I wasnt doing it all well enough.
So while I did NOT see that ad and respond to it, it all comes down to the same thing...at some point, I realized that "Heck, you live once so live WELL and live HAPPY". I'm sorry to say it took too many years for me to come to that realization but at least I did it.
Went on to find my prince charming and voila, 3 beautiful boyz....INshallah we will live happily ever after. SO....

What a stupid line for an advertisement. Ok, everyone goes through ups and down in marriage but divorce should be the last resort. Marriage is all about love, compassion, compromise, and respect. This ad suggests that there is no room for compromise. I hope the billboard doesn't goes up again.

Why divorce is common now a days because girls are more educated, they have freedom, they are independent, they have more choices and especially in the USA society give them protection and opportunity to make their life what ever as they want. compramizing, understanding, tolerance, love, care and respect who cares...there are plenty of guys out there dump him and get the new one...why have to suffer.
What convoluted logic.
Once a woman is educated and more confident to express herself -- THAT's when compromise, understanding and tolerance truly enter the marriage.

Men are simple creatures and hence can be tricked easily. All they want is Food, Sex and Sports... the order depends on the circumstances....
and that is why you are a man. Maybe it's what you want but i don't think all men want that. Life is short and I'm sure food, sex, and sports is not what life is about. Anyway divorce these days is the "in thing". I don't know why people go to such measures, people should learn to work things out. I don't know how you can love a person so much to want to be with them forever and then just divorce them b/ of differences.

dude, women are usually the one keeping a family together, and its the last thing on there mind to be divorced with kids. and a woman is also a big part of raising the family and has more values then men.
that's mostly true for our women... can we generalize it for women of all parts of the world? hardly.....!

I don't think i was pointing at anyone, I just said what danial said, applies on women over here aswell. They might not look like our women but that doesn't mean that don't have values and stuff. Mostly it is the women who tries to keep the family togather be it east or west.

on the contrary, women have created enough problem to dissolve the family in the west. It's a fact and Women Lib is all for it - our women are getting the disease too :)
