Yesterday's match proved that no amount of superstar flare and individual brilliance can outsmart an all round functional team performance. Germany played like a team yesterday, and this is how football should be played. Germany was just outstanding and superbly clinical. Though the result of the game is not entirely shocking, the but the scoreline is absolutely historic. 5th goal scored in 30th minute, at one point I was convinced that Germany will take the score to double digits.

Considering this is the same German team that Algeria almost defeated, it's hard to explain why this Brazilian team crumbled so badly and quickly in front of their home crowd. They didn't even bother putting a fight. To be brutally honest, it felt like I'm seeing English players having an attempt at playing football in yellow shirts. Equally comical and embarrassing display at the same time.

But I am partially sad as well since I was hoping for an all charged up and high on emotions Argentina vs Brazil final, but I am sad for Brazilian football too. After all that money spent, controversies, riots and anger and sense of disappointment and deprivation expressed by the locals, it would've been nice to see the home team getting an honourable exist and providing some good memories. Overall, it's been a pretty bad WC for Brazil by their own standards.
