Coming up NEXT is the wonderful visit to SALZBURG and the places where the famous movie SOUND OF MUSIC was filmed in 1963.
“SOUND OF MUSIC”
was majorly, filmed
in Salzburg and Vienna
in 1963 with
Christopher Plummer, Julie Andrews
in lead and seven children upto the age of 18
were also in major cast.
The movie till date–commands a demand
of its viewing and re-viewing and sale of its DVDs
for its powerful impact and fascinating story…
true story of a German dissident…from Navy,
Captain Von Trapp who resisted Adolf Hitler’s
moves for the advent of world war-II.
VON TRAPP had seven children. His wife died at the age of 35.
He kept a governess when Maria of the Salzburg Abbey,
with the permission of the Church of England, got married to him
after serving him as the Governess to his children.
Von Trapp settled in United states eventually…
where Maria after the birth of her three children,
died at the age of 88…some years back.

Thank you beiti....but we did pass by it. It was raining with hailstorm that the guide did not stop even for a few minutes.
However--my dream come true visit to the BLUE DANUBE did take me for good 4 hours to that most beautiful and dreamy river attributed to be the main source of inspiration for great musicians like Mozart, Hydn, Beethowen and Johann Strauss....for composing their swooning romantic chords/music..and the great SWAN LAKE is also attributed to be the inspiration of the BLUE DANUBE!
So...coming up next is the visit to BLUE DANUBE! followed by visit to Germany....!
Khush Rahein.....

Thank you....
In 1960 when my father went for his first ever overseas tour on UNESCO Scholarship...he wrote his travelogue as weekly article in JANG titled DUNYA MERE AGAAY...and it was from that I was inspired and had made up my mind that I will travel the places in the World and share the good moments and interesting happenings with my friends. Little did anyone know then that the cyber revolution would limit the size of this huge Universe to a Lilliputian one...that it is so inspiring to share--by the typing of few lines and uploading the memorable pics!
Peace......
Raju

Small world..eh !
Farooq bhai, Chattha and Tariq and Anam…are the most wonderful people I met in Austria. Absolutely darlings. Farooq Chaudhry is a big name in Europe that he has been in Vienna for over 31 years now.
I find him a great man with a great heart…that he takes care of Pak Community so well and with all his concern.
Incidently…CHATTHA turned out to be a close buddy of my first cousin (phoppizaad) from Macau & Hongkong..years back!
If I had known you were there…I would have loved to meet you beiti…
Best,
Raju Uncle

I feel for the darling clicking that camera in this monologue. The Journal option was added to this website for a reason.

Yeah small world indeed!
When I was reading that you were taken to a Pakistani restaurant from our friends in Vienna, a story came into my mind:
In the eighties, a person goes abroad for holiday from pakistan to see the culture, but everytime his relatives or friends would take him to eat at a pakistani restuarant or pakistani food at home, he got so sick of it, that he said .. '*All my life I have eaten pakistani food, I came here thinking I would get to eat other cousine and all you are feeding me is the same pakistani food ...'
:)
*Reminds me of this. Hope you were still able to try out some european food, even though its difficult as its not halaal and mostly pork or alcohol contained.
ps. Would have been nice to meet u too, but after looking at the pics, I think I have met YOU!!!
Thanks again.....VIENNA wali !
My apologies for the absence...as I have been awfully busy with a day two offsite of my Bank at the Marriot. Will be over this evening and then..for the darling of it..I WILL continue my travelogue on THIS very thread only.....journal or no journal ---:)
Cheers all around!

Re: Germany-Austria-Scotland and England by Raju
The absence was certainly a blessing. Darling at the thought!
ABSENCE makes the heart grow fonder...OR...Forgetful.
In the case here..I prefer the latter !
So..lets FORGET it..and let me be on my own!
Astala Vista....

Well obviously I avoided the chicken, meat stuff and largely depended on Fish-n-Chips for obvious reasons..and most of the places I stayed..had rich and yummy Pakistani or Oriental dishes...like Chattha's INDUS where that DAAL MAKHANI was like wow! and at Ansar Butt's in POTSDAM the heavenly KASHMIR HAUS restaurant had all one could imagine on Pakistani dishes...!
Are you from those many students sent on scholarship by HEJ of Dr. Attaur Rahman..? I am in touch with one of them..Marium Anees from Isloo...in Vienna doing research on cancer?
Best,
Raju
