Is there alot fo variety there in terms of clothing, in regards to design, quality, and especially price? The last time I went was during a mela in August, and the noly thing I noticed were the churiyan :droooling: I’ve heard there is pretty decent stuff available in Canada, more similar to fashions in Pakistan, as compared to low-quality, overpriced stuff here in Jackson Heights. I’m specifically looking for cotton/lawn suits (stitched or unstitched) to wear during the summertime. What about darzis/darzans there, Is there a range on how much they charge … ?

drooling no chooriyan ![]()
Re: Gerard Street
Darzi/darzan, there are few one is near “Siddharth restaurant” a shop here or there and another is near “Udupi restaurant” I dont know about the charges and I think there is one more also.
there are numerous clothing stores in Gerrard bazaar but if you have time do try to go to airport road/ Mis-ssauga side, I have heard there are some decent stores as well.
Re: Gerard Street
Sara, Gerard is ok for variety... but then I guess its what you are comparing it to ... I am lucky enough to go back to Pak every year...so I will always find north america, over priced and bad quality...
But if you look you should be able to find some nice stuff...... actually alot of people in TO sell from their houses as well..
Re: Gerard Street
Yeah, also check Albion/Islington, Rexdale/Islington, Airport/Derry and Hurontario/Dundas markets as well. They are all in your range in the west of GTA.
Re: Gerard Street
Hmm... well there is a pretty strong desi community in GTA, including concentrated Paki communities in certain areas of Mississauga and T.O. (including Gerard St.). If you don't find your stuff on Gerard, haul ass here to Mississauga, you might find some decent sh!t up here. Plus I really wanna go to Jackson Heights, all the commercials on Paki channels show it to be a North American Pakistan!
Re: Gerard Street
Ok I'm not too good with the geogrpahy there, i'm staying in mississagua.... if therea re better stores in mississagua, then that's good fo me...
Retroguy, LOL jackson heights is NOT a NA-Pakistan! It's mostly Indian/Bengali stores there, and esp the fashions are all Indian...not at all Pakistani..
Re: Gerard Street
^^ Oh
; well, at least I’ll get to watch sultry desi chicks in saris ![]()

Sara, these areas that I mentioned are all in Mississauga and surrounding. 10 to 20 min drive from your place. Also heard about 'Khaatoon' at Hurontario and Dundas (behind Karachi Bazar), the owner imports latest trend outfits from Karachi every other month. You won't find anything there ghisa pita fashion as seen on some Paki and mostly on Indian shops. You must check it out.
Re: Gerard Street
^ Aray Va! Khatoon ka itna zabardast sale tha, ke poori dukaan sale pe lagi thi! I mean literally, it was “For Sale”… ![]()

Sorry... my friend came down from edmonton, they (she with her husband) went to the gerard st for all the desi stuff, some man asked them where they were from and they said edmonton, he started laughing and said this place is not safe for people like you, go to missisuaga(spell?)..... so I was just curious, how true is that or was he just trying to fool them?
