Geo's trick

Those tricksters…they show half of Daira tonite, and the rest of it is supposed to be continued in June.

That last scene had us all just sitting there with our mouths hanging open.

GOOD MOVIE. I wish Pakistan would make more stuff like this. It was pure creativity and the technology used was not anything intense. That totally rules out the argument that Pakistani movies can’t compete because of lack of technical equipment.

Wah. New Years ka mazaa hi aagaya.

In June??????????? r u kidding me???????????

PCG, it said June 2003.

I found it to be so predictable .... especially the ending. I wasn't shocked. I watched it with my parents.

They are showing about the elite in Pakistan and their habits. Not very shocking. I know, a terrible generalization has been made in this drama - that everybody smokes, drinks, does drugs, are promiscuous, etc. - reality is, it happens everywhere.

its better to just go to near pakistani video store n get the video for $3 n watch the whole drama!! :)

but yeah.. Diara is a pretty good drama, i think they first showed it 2 yrs ago in Pak n it was a big success dat time too!! and as a matter of fact, we had the change to show dis drama in our college dis year, sponsored by PSA.

im pretty sure, they r gonna show the second part next week!!

I thought it was a drama series? Is it only a two-part movie?

Yeah, the next episode will be aired next week.

Just to confirm with you all :- it said June 2003 because Geo has already showed this movie before to its middle east and pakistan viewers. We are all a little late on board here in the USA, meaning this was shown before and they r re-showing here in the USA now. So, hang in there, they will show PART 2 shortly.

Not in June of this year or that late ! Earlier...I promise. And for those that want to know what happens after part one, read the book MOTH SMOKE :)

Yeah its kinda like one of those long Tele-films!!

whew!

I was watching it tonight than my dad came home and plopped down on the sofa beside me. He asked me what I was watching. I mumbled something about a new years show or whatever and got the hell out of the room.

exactly. Leave it to the pakistanis to turn something as commonplace around the world as sex, drug, and smoking and turn it into a thesis of the crumbling of pakistani society. :smack:

What I did like about it though was how they illustrated the unfairness of society. The drinking, smoking, etc. is only a part of it. The bigger demon which is being illustrated, from my point of view, is money; how money can elevate people to such a state where the rules of common decency no longer apply to them. Take the car accident for example, or even how Daru was fired from his job. Ozi thought he would get rid of the problem by compensating the family with money; Daru gets fired from his job cause the client was a hotshot client, and therefore, everybody had to be at his whim and call simply cause he has money.

Money destroys people, and thus, Pakistani society. :p

^ well, at least one could do it with class. Pakistanis can't be classy even in their downfall to corruption.
