At the time when the Pakistan Army began committing the heinous crime of destroying Bangalees as a nation, the people World over responded overwhelmingly against the atrocities. Journalist, ordinary people, artist and intellectuals all joined in to support the cause of Bangalees in 1971. On the 1st. of August in Madison square garden ‘the concert for Bangladesh’ was held. This concert, the first of its kind, had some of the top stars in pop music and produced by George Harrison. Inspired by sitarist Ravi Shanker Harrison organized one of the most successful concert and raised over 2 million dollars for the hungry children of Bangladesh. The concert also brought to notice the suffering and the struggle of the people of Bangladesh against Pakistan.

As we celebrate our 25th. the Liberation War Museum will again bring a new awareness in the people of the world because after 25 years similar crimes against humanity are being committed in many countries.

The Muktijuddha Smriti Trust (Liberation War Memorial Trust) will create a fund to fight atrocities and genocide world over. As our Liberation War was fought with a spirit which was built on the premises to fight injustice against humanity by humanity. ‘We shall continue our fight against injustice against humanity nationally and internationally’. We will support groups and individuals world over who are victims of such inhumanity and those who are fighting against them. We will support those victimized because of their race, religion, color, belief or individuality. We will fight against all human rights violation. We

will extend support to all who wishes to establish Museum on Liberation and Freedom in other countries. We shall try to establish a fund to help the destitute and disabled freedom fighters.

The concert for Bangladesh in 1971 was to raise money for the hungry Bangalee children. Our pledge in 1996 has been to fight injustice the world over. We shall reveal to the world that Bangladesh is no more a nation of starving children but a nation on the go.
