The protesters accuse Sudan’s president, Omar al-Bashir, of provoking a humanitarian crisis and blocking food and aid from entering the Nuba Mountains in the county’s border region with South Sudan.
Clooney, his father, Nick and others, including Democratic U.S. Rep. Jim Moran of Virginia and NAACP President Ben Jealous, were arrested after being warned three times not to cross a police line outside the embassy. They were handcuffed and placed into a U.S. Secret Service van.
Clooney said earlier that he hopes to draw more attention to the issue and that if action is not taken in the next three to four months “we’re going to have a real humanitarian disaster.”
He's been extremely passionate about Sudan and the prevailing genocide there. Has been there numerous times and done much for them. Not a publicity stunt. Hats off to his humanitarianism. He could just be partying away , but he gives back quite a lot.
^ yup, i think he’s one of those celebs who actually put his money where his mouth is and is not just about the lip service. he is a true humanitarian, IMO…and very easy on the eyes
I'm just shocked. I assume he's buddies with President Obama (since he was sitting next to The First Lady yesterday), so this is a huge move on the part of the police force/ Secret Security.
no, but seriously, he is fighting for a cause, so if this draws more attention to the issue, then so be it.
I agree. Such public stunts sometimes are important for the public and to achieve awareness for something. I'm pretty sure most American's don't know anything about Sudan other than "people die there because the government is not nice." But attaching Clooney's name to it with handcuffs would wake up a lot more people.

It will take Ben Affleck's protest of Israeli war crimes in Sudan and exposing Phony Kony 2012 for you to realize how genocides like these are used as tools.
He should protest topless, maybees he wouldnt get arrested.
Every time I hear about celebs protesting, it reminds me of Team America: World Police (F yeh!) Best film ever! The FAG group. Heheh. I need to youtube the song now.
