He shouldn't be bad for batsmen either. He will know how the ball bounces in Australia and can surely point out the mistakes that our batsmen might be making in playing australian or South african bowlers on their home pitches.

But there will be so much he will be able to do and it will depened upon how quickly some of the jokers and flat track bullies learn. Jokers like Farhat, Butt, Hameed may never learn.........

Lawson is also a rarity in that he is an ex-fast bowler, a breed not renowned much for their coaching abilities. Pakistan, with an abundance of fast bowling talent, is a fitting first job. "They have some terrific talent. *Shoaib [Akhtar] - we have to make sure he is fit and consistent. *

Atleast he is going to teach our players some slang aussie swear words so that they dont have bamboozaled (Vhaat??)look when Mcgrath or Tait come give Pakistani players some word later this season

Is there also a piece somewhere on Pakistan roping in a bowling coach? The combination of Younis/Javed and Lawson will be a treat. Waqar Younis, I feel, should be recalled. Let Aaqib Javed work with the academy bowlers at the lower level.

The only thing is remember about Geoff Lawson is watching him making a comeback in the Australian ODI side in late 80's after fews years of absence.

Congrats to Lawson and goodluck to him and the Team. Lets not forget that he is just there to guide the team and the team has to prove the mettle on the green, how much they have learnt and applied when it is most expected of them.
Point to be observed here is that Lawson break the news about his appointment, and not the board which hired him. I don’t see how ethical it was, once you are under contractual obligations. Maybe he got the nod from PCB to share the news with the Sky.

Bracewell has coached the Kiwis. I believe Roger Harper has also coached a team, BD???? I don't remember. Moody was an allrounder and coached Lankans. However I can't think of a fast bowler who has coached a national side. Waqar was our bowling but not the full time coach.

Its definately a positive news for me. PCB has done two very new things and has thus has started a new era. First, a young, inexperienced captain is given the reins and now an inexperienced (at international level) coach has been appointed who obviuosly would have something to prove. This is something unheard of. We shall see if it turns out to be a real jackpot or real shambles.
But his own announcement to the media is kinda confusing and bewildering. But then again aussies are in a very different time zone so Dr Ashraf must have decided to inform him in advance before breaking it to the media etc.
