I’m here at the UN working for the Saudi Press Agency, and I met Azim
Mian, the UN Bureau Chief of Geo TV, a Pakistani news channel, who asked
me if I knew anybody who could help him at the UN. He needs the following
people:
a) One or two news producers who speak both English and Urdu.
b) Interns for credit (maybe a small stipend, but he has to negotiate that
with his bosses)
c) A part-time person (does not necessarily have to speak Urdu) to hold
the camera when he does standups, interviews, etc. and to transfer film
from NTCS to PAL. Mr. Mian has 2 NTCS cameras and one PAL camera, but he
needs to send PAL-formatted news stories. Additional tasks would be to
answer all his email,and occasionally do an English-language standup.
The channel is almost entirely conducted in Urdu, with occasional English
segments.
I should also mention that Pakistan is a member of the Security Council,
so I think this would be an exciting job.
