Say you got a divorce. How far would you think your responsibility goes to your ex wife? You can place your variables as you wish. Kids, no kids. Good divorce, bad one. Whatever you wish.
But once you have that divorce how far do you think one should go to make sure their wife is living a “comfortable” or “decent” life?
This thread has reminded me of a conversation with a girl on my course a while back...
She had a son before getting with her now ex-husband. In the UK fathers of the child are made to pay some sort of child maintenance. She wanted to know how much maintenance she could get out of the guy who had brought her son up with her for the past 7 years, even though he wasn't actually his child!!!

After giving her, her Mehr, the responsibly is over. That is why Mehr is suggested to be at least the amount that would help that lady live her 'before the marriage' life style for at least 6 months.
